Bleeker Beige

Did more parade of homes yesterday and stumbled across a beautiful $1M home in Plymouth with fantastic interior wall colors. It was a light, neutral beige with a hint of green in the light.

Wall colors are always difficult for me. By the time I find a paint swatch I like, purchase a sample to try, then paint multiple walls, I don't even recognize the color. And most often I don't even like it. So I end up repeating the whole process again. Which can get expensive. And takes a whole bunch of time.

So I got excited when I noticed this wall color.  The house had a very similar style to the look we're going for with the remodel.  Walnut floors, white kitchen exterior cabinets with a cherry wood center island, and big windows for lots of light.

So you can imagine my excitement when the lady informed me she knew what color it was! Drumroll please....

Bleeker Beige (HC-80) by Benjamin Moore!

Here is the description from Benjamin Moore's website: The cool versatility of this mid-toned buff makes it perfect as both an attractive primary hue and a great complementary color in any room.

And as I sit here, just looking at the color sample above, I know why painting interior walls is so difficult. The walls at that home didn't look anything like the above! The walls were much lighter with a cooler hue.

But I give up and am going to go with it.  Bleeker Beige here we come - regardless whatever color you eventually look in my home!

Bench Seating

I am so excited that bench seating in dining rooms is making a comeback! This is great news since our living room/dining room area is one big space that makes two not-so-big spaces. Not to mention I really like the different textures and fabrics this allows us to incorporate. I found a few pictures with bench seating that might work in our place.

Our current plan is to knock out a closet in the dining area since we're building another closet by the new front entrance.  This gives us an extra three feet. Three feet helps but it will still be a bit tight.

So the plan is for Brian to pull out his carpentry skills and build us some nice seating which will give us the space we need without compromising the amount of people who can enjoy sitting at the table!

Inspiration at the Parade

Last weekend Brian and I spent some time going to the Parade of Homes hoping to get inspiration for our upcoming remodeling project. And I was certainly inspired. Inspired to win the lottery...

We visisted the home above in Wayzata that was impressive all the way around. It had a beautiful walkway with copper landscape lighting that I'm hoping to incorporate into our landscaping. Not to mention the decorating at this place was top notch. I grabbed their card and am hoping one of their designers will be willing to spend a little time with me..

The picture of this home just doesn't do it justice but you get the jist. I did get a couple more ideas though, some were even cost savings ideas!
